This was a side comment, but it’s somewhere to start as there’s lots to talk about here…

During a conversation about a pride flag and trans colours being on display at Tim Stanley’s school, James Orr says something along the lines of “a lot of these progressive beliefs come from the elites at the top”.

The rainbow flag was designed by an artist and activist called Gilbert Baker from Kansas. James Orr is a professor of Divinity at Cambridge, used to be a corporate solicitor I believe, holds top positions on numerous boards, is friends with JD Vance, and was unless recently high up in the ranks of Reform UK.

What is this whole “elites” line of argument coming from elites????? Does it strike anyone else as odd and a bit fishy?

I increasingly think not (Kingsnorth has convinced me); doesn’t mean something new can’t be built on the ashes. But I think Britain (and the West in this form) may not be salvageable.
